Calima on the Canary Islands

The wind on the Canary Islands are normally coming in from the northeast, but once in a while the wind direction changes and this affects the weather. Wind from the east can bring sand from Sahara out to the Atlantic Ocean, over the Canary Islands and in some cases all the way to the American continent.
Calima on the Canary Islands happens mostly in summer, and can also bring very dry and warm weather. This week we had a calima which brought strong wind, but not much higher temperatures.
